When God led the children of Israel out of Egypt, He led them the long way around. Why? He knew their hearts, they likely would have returned to Egypt. But God, He led the people about, through the wilderness of the Red Sea. God knows our hearts too. Sometimes He must take us through the wilderness because He knows the flesh in us that needs to die before He can take us where we should be. We could follow what we believe to be a clear path, yet lose the faith the wilderness builds. We could be left to our own devices. But God. Everything He takes us through has a reason.
