In today’s passage David is speaking about those who (in verse 5) encourage themselves in evil matters, they commune of laying snares privily; They say, Who shall see them? (Verse 6) They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: Both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heat, is deep. Have you ever met a person like this? I sat and thought about what God had brought me through. These words written so many years ago sound like a person I knew all too well. Ahhh, then we get to verse 7. But God!!! But God shall shoot at them With an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.
But God. The enemy might think he has you just where he wants you. He is sure the sickness, the abusive marriage, finical ruin (insert whatever it is attacking you) will take you out. It will knock you off of your feet and you surely won’t recover. But God! He is our defense and He shall shoot them with an arrow that will wound them. God doesn’t like it when you mess with His children. He is sure to come to our defense. Verse 8 goes on to say their own tongue shall fall on themselves.
Those people talking about you? Let them talk. It doesn’t matter who they are, let them talk. You keep God as the head of your life. You do as He tells you and let everyone else keep talking. It’s okay that your circle is shrinking. Not everyone can go where God is taking you so He has to weed them out now.
