Nourishment for Your Soul and Mind: December 30, 2024

The devil has really fought with me to get this posted so I know it is meant for more than just myself. Every day I pray, Lord forgive me for any sins I have knowingly committed or unknowingly committed and reveal those I commit unknowingly so that I can repent and stop doing them. How maybe know that when we pray these type of prayers with a sincere heart our Father honors them? Oh boy does He honor them!

Last night I was reading Revelation 21 as part of my Bible study. When I read verse 8, God said read it again. I read it over more than once. I then looked up the word “fearful” and read what it meant in this context. It means , deos (dread); timid that is (by implication) faithless:- fearful.” WOW. “Fearful” is the FIRST word listed in 8 that shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. What Lord, being fearful can lead to damnation? Am I reading that correctly? I read it again and recalled recent moments of fear and immediately repented. This was one of the sins I was unknowingly committing and doing it much more than a “faith filled” child of God should.

I understand many will argue fear is a natural human instinct. Hmmm. Adam and Eve had no fear until they ate the apple. They were the first to be fearful. We need to have a faith that stamps out and triumphs over fear. So how do we deal with these “natural human fears?” We repent as soon as any kind of fear invades our mind and we ask God for His mercy and grace to increase our faith. We ask Him to strengthen our faith and to fill us with His wisdom over whatever generated that fear.

Today’s passage clearly shows fearful has no place in a child of God and it can lead to hell if we do not deal with it quickly and with the power given to us through the blood of Jesus. Again, fearful was the FIRST mentioned in today’s passage. Matthew 7:13-14 says “13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” A lot of people think they are on going on that narrow way when in fact they are on the broad path of destruction. This is why it is so important to pray those hard prayers and receive the correction God gives. I will never again see fearful as a natural human emotion that is okay. It is not okay. Fear is a lie from the devil and it has no place in a child of God. I am so thankful our Father listens and gives us clear instructions backed up by His Word. What an awesome God we serve. 🦅 ~ Chelle, #f8ithgal

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” ~ Revelation 21:8
