Nourishment for Your Spirit, Soul, & Mind: 1/27/25

I had read this book, this chapter, this verse over and over so many times. God just had me in a place where I continually read it. One day he shed light on today’s passage that I had never caught in all the times I had read it. In this chapter, Daniel is on a fast for 3 full weeks. He verse 3 he says, “I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.” For 21 whole days Daniel prayed and did this fast (it has become known as the Daniel Fast). At the end of that 21 days, an angel comes to him. The angel tells him from the first, the very first day, that Daniel had set his heart to understand and chasten himself before God those prayers were heard. Verse 13 is critical for believers to understand, “But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.” The prince of the kingdom of Persia held up the angel being sent to Daniel. This angel needed the help of the angel Michael to break through. The prince of the kingdom of Persia is a demonic power in Satan’s army and it took two angels for one to break through to Daniel. This demonic power held up the angels getting through on the first day that his prayers WERE heard. Daniel in the meantime is fasting and praying for breakthrough. His help was on the way but it took prayer and fasting to get there. Did you catch that? Help was on the way, but it took prayer AND fasting for his help to get to him.

Jesus Himself tells us in Matthew 17:21. “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Prayer is essential in our Christian lives, but fasting is also extremely important in crushing strongholds and so many other things we take before God. The two go hand in hand. That is what God allowed me to glean from Daniel 13. Sometimes you can read a passage over and over and just like that, God breathes on you and gives you a fresh revelation. Fasting will change your spiritual life. Glory hallelujah, thank You Father God! I praise Your Holy name. 🦅 ~ Chelle, #f8ithgal
