I prayed all day for a Scripture for today’s blog. I just kept hearing schism. It wasn’t a topic I wanted to delve into, but I looked and looked and continued to hear schism. Okay Lord, I hear You. So, here we are. A schism is a “division or separation within the Church, often stemming from disagreements or a breach of unity, rather than a formal break from the faith itself.”
I still sat, just silent before the Lord. I am a person whose discernment is on high alert even during times I’d rather it not be. Many times a schism is created when our mouths run faster than our ears can hear the voice of God. Did you catch that? It only takes a few words to sour the atmosphere. It only takes that gossiping spirit to cause division where there was once unity. It is really easy to stop gossip. It ends when you refuse to participate in it. When someone is talking about others with you, there is a pretty good chance their gossiping spirit causes them to talk about you too. You know, that Michelle is getting a divorce, did you hear why? You know that Karen is … any gossip is wrong in God’s eyes and it hurts the church. It creates a schism that causes parties on both sides to feel betrayed.
I’ve felt this in the church and it is hurtful. If you think you know about something, pray about it. Pray with a sincere heart and God will lead you in a way that doesn’t cause offense. Allow the Holy Spirit to be in control and help you understand both sides. There are situations you know nothing about. The devil, who is the farther of lies can take just a few words and turn the truth into a believable lie. No? He did it to Eve. That’s why it is important to talk less and pray more. Put it in God’s ears and stop hurting people, period. In the church and out of the church, just pray. And to the offended, forgive and pray. Place it in God’s hands. All things said and done in the dark will come to light. Lies will never prosper and gossiping, God will flip that thing around. Just pray. More prayer and less talking. Prayer unites both sides. 🦅 ~ Chelle, #f8ithgal
