We live in a world that is so quick to condemn without knowing anything about the situation. We live in a microwave society that reads captions generated by man without ever getting into the actual problem. A world that wants the abridged version, no facts. There is a mentality to feed the gossip train without even caring about the truth. Not only that, but let’s drag others into the mix and say terrible, hurtful things about them as well. People who are often already hurting with scars the eyes can’t see. But do you know who does see? Jesus.
Let’s switch it up a bit. Have you ever done anything in your life that was wrong, but you were never called out on it so we can just sweep that under the carpet? Details of my divorce were insatiable to many, very few of those people knew the details. They had no idea what I had endured and did not want the facts because the gossip was more juicy to itchy ears. Again, do you know who knew everything their eyes and ears could not see? Jesus.
I went on Facebook and saw a sad post earlier today. As I read in the comments, my heart began to ache for a precious sister in Christ. Immediately John 8:1-11 came to my mind. I looked it up and reread this popular passage. The Pharisees brought an adulterous woman before Jesus. They were trying to tempt Jesus, looking for a reason to accuse Him. Jesus remains silent stooping down writing on the ground with His finger. They continued to question Jesus when, “he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.” Could you imagine? How would you react standing before the King of Kings that knows it all. The one who knows every sin you have ever committed, known and unknown. Would you attempt to argue your case?
My God, He still hears every word today. You must be especially careful when throwing stones against a woman of God who is beautiful and precious in His sight. He counts her tears and He alone knows her heart. In today’s passage the Pharisees had no response for Jesus, they were in fact convicted by the words He spoke. They all left, leaving the woman who had been accused alone with Jesus. “When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.” That woman had a forgiving encounter with Jesus. He did not condemn her. He told her to go and sin no more.
The Lord really spoke to my heart when I saw the terrible things people were saying about my sister in the Lord. They condemned her, not knowing the situation she was in. She likely has scars that can’t be seen, but Jesus sees them and counts her tears. The world is a wicked and evil playground for the devil. God’s people should not beat each other down. Pray. Take it to God in prayer and allow Him to be God! Is it really that easy? Yes. Gossip should end at your eyes or your eyes. You pray and leave everything else to Him. 🦅 ~ Chelle, #f8ithgal
“1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. 2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. 3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with [his] finger wrote on the ground, [as though he heard them not]. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9 And they which heard [it], being convicted by [their own] conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, [even] unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.” ~ John 8:1-11
