Nourishment for Your Spirit and Soul: April 15, 2025

A person should never be made to feel bad for asking for prayer. This is something that has really vexed my spirit. Word curses are real and we must be careful not to speak them over people we are praying for. Those same words can discourage people and hurt them no matter how “well intended” they may be. I realized this tonight when I got off of work and my back was in extreme pain. I made it into the shower and out but I have injured my sciatic nerve during one f the times I had fallen. There are times the pain is excruciating from it. My first thought was I need people to pray in agreement with me. My second thought was I didn’t want to deal with the reprimand. Wow.

I started to think on it. I had ask for prayer and received a large lecture on how unhealthy I was and how I needed to change. There was not one prayer or offer of a prayer in it. What’s worse, is I’d been working so hard to get better. My spirit was bruised. I then received a separate lecture where the person referred to my puppy and getting a dog that would outlive me. The puppy was a gift because April had been sick and they knew how hard it would be when she’s gone. My spirit was now crushed. These were people who may not have meant to bring me down low, but the devil used them to do just that.

I sat in quiet reflection with tears falling gently down my cheeks. Of course, I know I can pray for myself and God hears and honors those prayers. I can also fast and receive breakthrough. We ask for prayer because there is power in praying together. Today’s passage reminds us when we agree on earth as touching any thing that we shall ask, it shall be done… where two or more gather, He is in the midst of them.

I do not come in agreement with any negative thing spoken over me. I will pray when they ask me to without question, but I will not ask people like this for prayer. The Lord has shown me we have to be careful who we allow to touch and pray over us, their spirits can open an unclean door to us. We must also be careful of who we ask for prayer from. If there response is not at all encouraging (in fact discouraging), move on. Our Father likes for us to lay our burdens down. We should feel lighter after prayer. Feeling heavier should not be. There are some people you can pray for but not receive prayers from until they find their own healing. 🦅 ~ Chelle, #f8ithgal

“19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” ~ Matthew 18:19-20
