Many people are under the impression that preachers, prophets, teachers, and other men and women called by God should never suffer from depression, sickness, or in any other way. If they do, they are after seen as doing something wrong, thinking they must have hidden sin somewhere. Spiritual warfare is not even considered.
Elijah is a well known prophet in the Bible. He did mighty works for God. Yet in today’s passage he requested that he might die. He actually ask for the Lord to take his life. Here we have a blessed mouthpiece for God asking for death. This is a powerful passage and I have been to that place in my own life and I too ask God to just take my life. But God! Elijah still had work to, so do I, and so you!
God led me to today’s passage to remind you, you are not alone. We all fall into that trap of depression at times, but the key is not to stay there! Lift up your voice to our Abba Father and allow Him to encourage your spirit and guide your path. Today’s passage should be encouraging because it allows you to understand you are not alone and it shows you how God brought Elijah through and He will do the same for you!
You might find yourself in a place of despair and tears even as you read this. God sees your pain, He hears your cries, and He’s catching every tear. Draw closer to Him and allow Him to minister to your heart. This is not the end child of God, it’s only the beginning. Look up to where your help comes from. God will not leave you in a pit of despair, He will not leave you alone. Seek Him, trust Him, and know how much He loves you. 🦅 ~ Prophetess Michelle, #f8ithgal
“But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.” ~ 1 Kings 19:4
