Today’s passage is heavy. We know the things God rescued us from. We are to be vigilant lest we fall back into those very things God rescued us from. The devil also knows our past and he will do everything he can to pull you away from the cross and back into bondage. You have been set free child of God, don’t slip back into what’s comfortable, God is doing a new thing. Take hold of it and be steadfast in your walk with God. Steadfast signifies a state of being unwavering, firm, and resolute.
As I read this, I think of unwavering faith. The enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy. He must be cut off at the first thought, first urge, first sign of attack, as soon as you feel depression setting in, as soon as you feel him pulling you out of what God rescued you from, the first… Don’t be led away in error because your eyes aren’t fixed on the cross. Lean into God and pursue that unwavering faith.
2 Peter 3 :18 goes on to say, “But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” Child of God, grow in grace! Study to show you’re self approved, giving you the knowledge of Jesus. Brothers and sisters, eyes straight forward. This is not the season to get ensnared in the things from the past.
