Diligence is “careful and persistent work or effort.” Today’s passage tells us to keep thy heart with all diligence. Other translations say to guard your heart for out of it spring the issues of life. The state of our heart is of extreme importance. Are you harboring unforgiveness or even hate there? Today’s passage makes it clear we are to be careful in what we allow into our heart. We are to be persistent in keeping it pure before God.
