This weekend I stood and watched the beautiful Rose of Sharon in our yard. I started to observe the bees weaving in and out of the flowers. They would go into the deepest part of the flowers and immerse themselves in the pollen. They would come out covered and move to the next. They were moving with purpose. I read without bees, many plants, including a significant portion of our crops, would struggle to reproduce, leading to reduced yields and potentially impacting food security (according to the USDA and the National Honey Board). Yes, they were moving with purpose.
I began to think about my own journey with the Lord. In Matthew 2, Jesus had wandered away from his parents. They realized He was missing as they journeyed on. They returned to find Jesus in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. His response to their concern was “And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?”
He was about His Father’s business! We all have Kingdom destinies. Specific purposes that can impact the Kingdom of God in huge ways. It caused me to reflect on my own journey. Am I like the bees moving with purpose? Am I about my Father’s business? This is something to reflect on deeply. If you are, great! Stay the course. But are you running into delays or even stagnant?
