Nourishment for Your Spirit and Soul: September 30, 2025

When God gave me today’s passage, the devil tried to whisper in my ear that I could not possibly write about this passage. He is indeed a liar. I have read 1 Corinthians many times but missed Anathema Maranatha and the deep meaning of it.

Anathema Maranatha means “accursed- the Lord is coming; let him be anathema, O Lord, come!” Breaking it down further, we find “ Anathema” means to be accursed, condemned, or cut off from the Lord, while “maranatha” is an Aramaic term expressing hope for Christ’s imminent second coming and the judgment that will follow for those who do not love and accept Him. (Found online, Google.) That is deep, but let’s go deeper.

Anathema is of Greek origin. It literally means “accursed” or “cut off from the Lord.” When I first read into this meaning, I thought Lord is this correct. I studied into it further and that is exactly what it means. My heart began to grieve for those lost, those who don’t know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Our time here on earth is fleeting. Time is not promised and Jesus has set the stage for Him to return at anytime. Now is the day of salvation proclaims the Lord!

Maranatha is of Aramaic origin. It means “Our Lord Come” or “The Lord is come!” This tells us our Savior is coming back. He’s not coming has a lamb to be slain but a lion. The judgement seat is real and we will all face it. Are you ready? Is your heart truly ready? What kind of fruit are you bearing? Is that fruit connected to the vine of Christ or is it sweet to the taste but far from God?

Anathema Maranatha is a stark warning. Jesus is coming back and judgement will be inevitable. This passage screams urgency. The consequence of rejecting Jesus is eternal damnation. The state of your heart matters. 🦅 ~ Prophetess Michelle, #f8ithgal, #Joy
