The KJV Dictionary definition of charity is “In a general sense, love, benevolence, good will; that disposition of heart which inclines men to think favorably of their fellow men to think favorably of their fellow men, and to do them good. In a theological sense, it includes supreme love to God, and universal good will to men.” There is enough going on throughout the world and in each of our lives without us having strife between each other. 1 Peter 4:8 says, ““And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” Jesus died to forgive us from the smallest to the greatest of sins. Should we not offer that forgiveness with one another? Charity, that’s love ya’ll, shall cover the multitude of sins.
Benevolence, another meaning of charity, is “the quality of being well meaning; kindness.” I think it all comes back to being Christ like. Less of me and more of Him. Admittedly I have a long ways to go, but I know I want to walk more after the spirit and less after the flesh. Help me Poppa to offer fervent charity even when I’m hurt. Cause me to draw it from You, my source at all times (especially those hard ones). Yes, less of me and more of You. I never want to forget love covers a multitude of sins, the love of Jesus covered mine through His blood. It covered yours too. 💛 ~ Chelle, #f8ithgal
