Jehovah-Shalom is The Lord Our Peace. It is so easy to be overwhelmed with fear in the world we live in today, but God is our peace during these times. As I was studying today’s name for God it brought me to the story of Gideon in the book of Judges. Can you image his surprise when God chose him to lead Israel to victory against the Midianites? In fact in verse 15 he tells the Lord, “15 And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family [is] poor in Manasseh, and I [am] the least in my father’s house.” Our Lord replies in verse 16, “And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man. “ The story goes on and Jehovah-Shalom shows up with that awesome reassuring peace, “ 23 And the LORD said unto him, Peace [be] unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die. 24 Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovahshalom: unto this day it [is] yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites” Gideon and a reduced army of 300 go on to win that battle. This story warmed my heart as I read it.
We are facing a different battle today, but Jehovah-Shalom is STILL our peace. Is your spirit troubled, worried, or afraid? Spend some time in the Word and get into the presence of the Holy Spirit. Start focusing on those peace Scriptures (there are a few below). Finally, call out to the God of peace, Jehovah-Shalom and ask Him to calm those waters and fill you with His precious peace. 💛 ~ Chelle, #f8ithgal
“Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]: because he trusteth in thee.” ~ Isaiah 26:3
“5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace.’ ~ Romans 8:5-6
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” ~ 2 Timothy 1:7
