I had a very long day so I intended to get on FB, get tomorrow’s Bible reading ready and get off. Before I could just hop off, God started highlighting one domestic violence case after another to me. Women who had died, not just women, but children. Children, let that sink in. Then I saw stories of survivors. Miracles where God’s hands and their will to live kept them alive. Jesus help us.
My heart began to grieve. How many Poppa? How many are caught in abusive situations afraid to get out? How many are trapped with nowhere to go? How many have been deceived into thinking it’s their fault. How many are being emotionally and mentally abused? This is not okay. Domestic violence on any scale, in any way physical, emotional, mental, a little, a lot. It’s not okay and I promise you it will only get worse without intense counseling, it escalates.
My ex-husband was so manipulative I had other women sending me messages and then blocking me when I stopped responding to his emotional abuse. He was always the victim, they had no idea the hell I went through. I’m okay with that, I got out with my life. I got out before the beatings started. I absolutely believe his ex-wife and son and the stories they told me of the beatings she took and without a doubt know it would have been me had I stayed. I was being beat down to a shell of the woman I had been. I no longer recognized myself.
But God. His grace and mercy brought me out of that situation. His grace and mercy restored me to my right mind. He brought me through it so that I can help other women going through it. We weren’t meant to be beat down or be emotionally bound. We do get out! I want to encourage that woman who feels stuck today. You’re not alone sis. God sees you and I’m right here ready and willing to pray you through. ~ Chelle
