We are a peculiar people. Peculiar is strange or odd; unusual or particular; special. I was praying on a Scripture for today and the Lord brought me to the book of Titus. We aren’t called to be like the world, but to be set apart from it. We aren’t called to go along with the flow of it, but to DENY ungodliness and worldly lust thereof. We are to live soberly, righteously so that our Lord may redeem us from our iniquity and purify us unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. I like this part, these things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. These things speak of who we are, they set us apart, they lift and encourage, they allow us to spread God’s truth with authority and with no fear of retribution. BUT, one must be living soberly, righteously, and godly to do these things with all authority. Jesus gave Himself for us to be grafted in as a peculiar people. How we are living matters. We can’t just live any old way. We can’t just take in worldly views that directly oppose the heart of God. It matters. We are set apart, peculiar, unusual, different. We aren’t called to go with the flow, we are called to flow with God. Our heart should align with His and not the world’s. Our beliefs should align with His beliefs and His Word, not what is popular in the world because it feels good. We are peculiar, set apart. We aren’t called to be like everyone else. That’s something to really think about, it truly matters. 💛 ~ Chelle, #f8ithgal
“11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.” ~ Titus 2:11-15
