What’s in a name? More than one realizes! In the Bible, God changed Jacob’s name to Isreal. Jacob means “heel-catcher or deceiver,” while Isreal means”prince of God, God’s fighter, or he struggles with God.” (Genesis 32:27-28; Genesis 35:10) God had also changed Abram’s name to Abraham in Genesis 17:5 saying, “… for a father of many nations I have made you.” And He changed Sarai to Sarah in Genesis 17:15. Their calling was so great God changed their names. Some names today can unknowingly carry generational curses with them. Many will choose a name because they like it, but it’s important to know the meaning.
God has many names. It is not only interesting to know these names, but they can be powerful. You can use His names while you are praying, each is used in various situations throughout the Bible. The Lord laid it on my heart to start studying His name again. I am going to be sharing His names with you and I pray you are blessed by them. 🦅 ~ Chelle, #f8ithgal
